Career

Political Science

Political Science is a field that is not made for everyone, but it is one that allows people to make a change in the lives of others.  You have the power to change the course of history and the fate of the present and future generations in the country, state, or town that you live in.  This is the reason that I was born, or placed here on this earth, which ever people prefer to say.

Senior

Senior

Senior life is a life of great pleasure.  No one can tell us what to do.  We are in charge, we are the leaders of our school and we have privileges that others do not.  However we have the pressure of choosing and applying to a college or university.  The waiting to here from your colleges that you applied to can be difficult and the decision to go to any of the accepted colleges or the joining of the work force or military is just as stressful.  In a short summary it is the first step to the rest of your life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

V

V

The themes of the movie "V for Vendetta" are endless, but more or less they do have an end.  Some of those themes are: Personal Accountability, Happiness, and Freedom.  All of those were taken away from the people in the movie.  The primary ideological battle throughout the novel is Fascism vs. Anarchy, but the true struggle lies deeper than that. What really is at the heart of the narrative is the importance of personal accountability on the part of the individual, and in a grander scope, on the part of the collective. Freedom is easy when it isn’t challenged; when it is a considered right, we take it for granted.

AI Review

AI Review

Artificial Intelligence is one of the most interesting movies I have ever seen.  A.I. Artificial Intelligence, also known as A.I., is a 2001 American science fiction drama film written, directed, and produced by Steven Spielberg, and based on Brian Aldiss's short story "Super-Toys Last All Summer Long". The film stars Haley Joel Osment, Jude Law, Frances O'Connor,Brendan Gleeson, and William Hurt. Set sometime in the future, A.I. tells the story of David, a childlike android uniquely programmed with the ability to love.

Development of A.I. originally began with director Stanley Kubrick in the early 1970s. Kubrick hired a series of writers up until the mid-1990s, including Brian Aldiss, Bob Shaw, Ian Watson, and Sara Maitland. The film languished in development hell for years, partly because Kubrick feltcomputer-generated imagery was not advanced enough to create the David character, whom he believed no child actor would believably portray. In 1995, Kubrick handed A.I. to Spielberg, but the film did not gain momentum until Kubrick's death in 1999. Spielberg remained close to Watson's film treatment for the screenplay. The film was greeted with generally favorable reviews from critics and grossed approximately $235 million. A small credit appears after the end credits, which reads "For Stanley Kubrick."

Aritficial Intelligence

AI

Roughly speaking, Artificial Intelligence is the study of man-made computational devices and systems which can be made to act in a manner which we would be inclined to call intelligent. The birth of the field can be traced back to the early 1950s. Arguably, the first significant event in the history of AI was the publication of a paper entitled "Computing Machinery and Intelligence" by the British Mathematician Alan Turing. In this paper, Turing argued that if a machine could past a certain test (which has become known as the 'Turing test') then we would have grounds to say that the computer was intelligent. The Turing test involves a human being (known as the 'judge') asking questions via a computer terminal to two other entities, one of which is a human being and the other of which is a computer. If the judge regularly failed to correctly distinguish the computer from the human, then the computer was said to have passed the test. In this paper Turing also considered a number of arguments for, and objections to, the idea that computers could exhibit intelligence.

March Madness

March Madness

March Madness is reaching new heights of popularity in the country.  Right now the brackets are the most talked about event happening in the sports world only because Warren Buffet has offered $1 BILLION DOLLARS to the person who has the winning bracket.  Now people are trying to plan out their bracket as best they can.

Never before has so much money gone into the NCAA Brackets.  Now all that remains is for the games to be played and the brackets will be knocked out of the running one by one.

Service

Service

Teaching children was a very different experience.  Mostly I told them about high school and what to expect in the years to come.  Being back in my old 6th grade class room brought back some very fond memories.  I was able to engage in a very adequate conversation with the 6th and 7th graders, not so much with the 8th graders.  As the day went on the kids became more curious as to what I knew on the subjects they were learning.  The classes that I was helping was the middle school reading and writing class.  It felt invigorating to help the kids that are in the same place as I was 6 years ago.

Drones

Drone Manufacturing

Drones are some of the most highly technological advancements we have to date.  They are used for both civilian life styles and in times of war for a country.  A company known as Carbon By Design is a manufacturer of these drones.  Another company that uses drones and has made a publicity stunt out of them is Amazon.  They can be bought on the internet for much lower prices than through a company.

Depending on the type of drone you want to buy or make, the cost can range from barley $100 to somewhere in the thousands of dollars range. The ability to control these machines takes time and patience. It is not like a video game where if you crash your drone you'll get a new one.  This is real life, if you break it, you can't get another one in a snap of your fingers.

Ukraine

Ukraine

The recent attack by Russia against the Ukrainian people in the area known as the Crimea Peninsula.  This resulted after a series of new Ukrainian laws were put into effect that were aligning the country closer to Russia and was met with severe opposition by some members of the Ukrainian Parliament and about half of the population of the country.

As seen in the picture above in the capitol city of Kiev the people are furious.  After the topple of the current president who was pro Russian, Russia felt threatened by the new uprisings and invaded the Crimea peninsula, which, according to Russia, belongs to them anyway.

Service

Community Service

It is that time of year: snow is melting, flowers are blooming, and seniors begin community service programs. The one place I always wanted to do my service at was my old elementary school of Sacred Heart in Roslindale. I will be able to help the teachers who taught me several years ago with the new students that are now where I was. I will be able to help them learn how to read, write, count, and do most of the basic math functions of an elementary school student.

Olympics

Olympic Games

The Winter Olympic Games of 2014 in Sochi Russia have concluded and now we look to Rio for the 2016 Summer Games.  There was some controversy over the games from the cost to safety to favoritist judging. There was more to the games than just these controversies.  There was the impressive hockey games and figure skating competitions as well as the cross country skiing races.  This is probably one of the best Olympic Winter Games I have ever seen and cannot wait for the South Korean 2018 Winter Olympic Games; without the same controversies that plagued these games.  My favorite part of the Olympics this year was seeing all of the countries walking into the stadium showing that terrorist threats will not stop these games that show the unity of the worlds various cultures and ethnicities.

Flappy Birds

Flappy Birds

Flappy Birds was taken down today on an account of threatening emails, phone calls, and overall down approval ratings.  The creator, Dong Nguyen,  was forced to take it down and has stoped production of the game and the gaming app all together.  Why it was so hard is probably the reason for the abrupt halt of the game.  I believe it is for the better and now we can work on the more important aspects of life.

Syrian Peace Talks

The first round of peace talks between Assad's regime and the rebels in Geneva ended in failure and they left with out even agreeing on how to end the blockade that is currently starving the civilians in the rebel held cities.  The statistics are as follows:
200,000 to 240,000 civilians were cut off from aid in areas controlled by forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad of Syria, including eastern Ghouta, Muadamiya and parts of Homs.  About 45,000 civilians were cut off from assistance in rebel-controlled areas, including several towns in northern Syria: Zahra, Nubol and Fua.

We do not know whether the two sides will come together to bring peace for the sake of the innocent lives that are caught in this conflict.  No one deserves to live in fear of their neighbor, but rather embrace them as a friend.

Sketchup

Sketchup

The Sketchup program is one of the most interesting methods of architecture learning.  It is used by colleges like ITT Technical Institute and others like it.  My own cousin uses this program to get his masters in constructing and has built the actual models he created on this site.  It has been, in my opinion, one of the most advanced 3D model creation sites I have ever seen and is worth using in schools to learn from.

SketchUp users are architects, designers, builders, makers and engineers. They are the people who shape the physical world. They are important, and they deserve great tools because great tools produce great work.

At SketchUp, we do our best to make great tools for drawing. For our users, drawing is thinking. They draw to explore ideas, to figure things out, to show other people what they mean. They draw because they love it, and because nothing great was ever built that didn't start with a great drawing.

Great tools are ones you look forward to using. They do one thing (or maybe two) really, really well. They let you do what you want without having to figure out how. They help with hard or boring tasks so that you can focus on being creative, or productive, or both. And they are, in their own way, beautiful.

Makerbot

Makerbot is a three dimensional (3D) printer.  It is the latestn peice of technology for the average consumer. The ability to make 3D products is astonishing for the ordinary, hardworking, person out there.  However it does come with burdens.  The printer itself is worth $2,200 dollars plus taxes and expenses for travelling.  Not to mention the copy machine can cost anywhere between $1,000 and $1,100 dollars plus taxes and shipping. But I believe it is worth it for educational purposes.

Form1 Labs

3D printed parts are only as good as the technology that made them. Stereolithography (SL) is the gold standard for 3D print resolution and surface finish. In this photopolymer-based process, a high precision system directs a laser across a tray of liquid resin and causes a thin layer to solidify. The build platform then rises in preparation for the next layer. After thousands of repetitions, your part is complete with exquisite detail.
